Our Story

The farmstead that Vine and Holstein sits on today began as McIntosh Farms, a simple dairy farm founded in 1960 by Michael McIntosh. The farm produced dairy and beef for residents of Agassiz and nearby communities of the Fraser Valley. In 2000, Tim McIntosh (pictured above, far left), son of Michael, took over operations of the dairy farm when Michael retired. At Vine and Holstein, cows are raised as free range and grass fed. No antibiotics or steroids are used on any of his Holstein cattle. In addition, all our cows are raised as SPCA certified humane.

Tim married his business partner, Brooke (pictured above, second from left) in 2000, the same year our vineyard was created. Eventually, as the vineyard continued to expand, Tim and Brooke changed the name of McIntosh Farmstead to Vine and Holstein, to reflect both the dairy farm legacy and vineyard direction of the business. Vine and Holsteins wines are 100% certified organic with no pesticides, GMOs, colouring agents or concentrated wine additives. The grape vines are also cared for with sustainable water-saving irrigation techniques.

The family-owned and operated farm is proud to include in its operations our tour guides: Tim’s niece and nephew, Katy and Sean, and Tim’s mother Ingrid (pictured above).
